Making things happen

So I have a confession to make, the idea that making big things happen can come around by making small mindful changes sounded a tad unrealistic to me. Safe to say over these past few months I have managed to prove myself wrong. I have learned that it’s the little things that we do on a consistent basis that can end up impacting our lives the most.

So how do we do it, heres my take… First, we need to start thinking that we are going to do it (doesn’t matter how crazy, terrifying or impossible it may seem) just believe that you are capable and will do it. Don’t worry about the details or logistics, always have the final destination in mind and you slowly seem to find yourself drawn to things that bring you closer to it.

Another thing is, interact with people who can help and support you. They say you are the average of the five people you spend the most time with, so why not make those five people inspirational, supportive and positive, I don’t think anyone deserves any less. Let them be people who think the same way, who push you to succeed and make you better, it’s surprising what you learn about yourself through your interactions with others.

Third, upgrade your environment and yourself!! No I’m not saying go buy the mansion on the lake or go on a shopping spree. But by maintaining your environment, especially the areas you spend the most time in can have an impact on your perspective. You spend a lot of time in your office? Make a vision board that you can always see and be reminded of your goals. Bring in things that make you happy, for me its fresh flowers in the house even in the middle of the cold Canadian winter. They don’t cost much but honestly they make me smile every time I look at them. Upgrading yourself may sound harsh but what it really means is, take care of yourself, no goal or dream can ever come into existence if you yourself are unwell, so eat right, exercise, wake up and go to sleep early so you can be the awesomest most confident person you can, you deserve no less right?

Finally, stop being in reactive mode, be in action mode! This one took me by surprise as to what a great effect it can have. Think ahead, don’t wait till the last minute to do something, you end up doing it under pressure and not enjoying it. Stop procrastinating and put yourself first…You want to go back to school but don’t know if now is a good time, do it anyway, there will never be a right time.

Heres to making things happen!!!

Keep smiling,
