Here’s to a very cold end of the week (weather wise I mean). Its so hard to believe that it was only this past weekend the weather was so beautiful that we spent the whole day outside playing by a nearby duck pond. We are currently ending the week with temperatures in the negatives, I’ve swapped out by flats for boots and fall vests for lined jackets. Although at times these unexpected surprises can be… well unexpected, it can be refreshing, providing a change from the ordinary and reminding us all that no matter how much we plan, the world has its own course.
I’m a habitual planner by nature, I like to know what is going and when things are set to happen. In the Seven Habits of Highly Effective People, Steve Covey highlights the importance of being proactive, trying to outline every step before it happens. Although I find that a great strategy to live by, the reality is life happens and things happen that are out of our control and that we cannot prepare for. How do we handle it? How do we minimize the effect so that it doesn’t tear down all that we have built. To be honest, I’m not entirely sure myself. In my experience it’s always good to remind ourselves that these things are temporary and the winds may change in any given moment.
Success is not final and failure is not fatal, this too shall pass and thats something we should always keep in mind.
